Our long awaited opening game in the 2020 C’ship took place this evening in Mallow .  After a very tight game Douglas came out on top but can be very grateful to the heroics of their goal keeper Donal Maher . In the first quarter the city side used the ball better and led 5-2 at the first water break . Ballyhea though got to grips with their tactics and at half time we were just a point in arrears 8-7 and  we could have led , only for two great stops by the Douglas custodian . The Third quarter was very tight with scores at a premium . Mikey Browne did well to deny Douglas a certain goal .It was 9-10 entering the final quarter . The city lads finished strong with 7 points but Ballyhea still created goal chances , Pa O’Callaghan shaved the post when we trailed 13-11 . Douglas went 5 ahead before Caoleann Cox netted his first championship goal to leave just 2 in it in deep injury time . Douglas added another point before Conor lane blew for full time . Ballyhea now face Midleton in a crucial game next Friday night .
