U16 Results 2007
20/09/07 - North Cork U-16 "C" Football Final - Ballyhea 3-12 Mill Rovers 3-2 @ Doneraile.
Our u-16 footballers captured the North Cork title for the first time in 16 years at Doneraile last Thursday night with an accomplished performance Over Mill Rovers. Played in very wet conditions we got off to a poor start when Mill Rovers goaled from a free after 3 minutes. But gradually Ballyhea got on top with some fine points from Kevin Copps and Kieran Morrissey and a well taken John Morrissey goal in the 28th minute to lead 1-5 to 1-1
at half time. Further points from Ryan Hanley and Kevin Copps had Ballyhea 6 points clear before Mill Rovers were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute which they duly converted. But Ballyhea replied immediately with a point from Kieran Morrissey and 2 minutes later Kieran was on hand to finish to the net to leave us 2-8 to 2-1 ahead with 18 mins remaining. Playing some fine football at this stage we went 9 points clear thanks to points
from Dean Copps and Kieran Morrissey before the rovers struck for their 3rd goal
to leave 2 goals between the sides with 10 mins remaining. But showing great fitness Ballyhea finished very well with points from Kevin Copps and Kieran Morrissey and a ryan hanley goal to secure a deserved victory. Well Done to the players and selectors, Kieran O' Regan, Connie Brassill, Seamus Fitzgibbon, Paudie Morrissey, John Roche and trainer John Sexton on a fine performance and best of luck to all involved in their quest for county
honours. After the game Tom Fox Vice Chairman of the Avondhu Juvenile GAA Board presented the cup to Ballyhea's captain Kevin Copps.
