02/05/04 --- U-14 "D" Football League Final - Ballyhea 4-3 Mallow 3-7 @ Buttevant.
After a thrilling hours football the u-14s went under to Mallows second string at a very well prepared Buttevant venue last Night. Mallow started well and led 1-3 to 0-0 after 10 mins and to add to our woe we lost Liam O' Herlihy through injury. We were thrown a life line after 17 mins when James Hennessy goaled. Mallow added another point before Kieran Morrissey scored a brilliant solo goal in the 29th min to leave just a point between the sides at half time. 1-4 to 2-0. The second half was a splendid contest with Kevin Copps pointing in the 33 min only for Mallow to regain their lead with a pointed free. Ryan Hanley equalsed in the 38 min, only for Mallow to goal again in the 39th min. Ballyhea were awarded a penalty in the 45th min when the lively Kieran Morrissey was fouled. Up stepped excellent centre back Shane Crowley, who made no mistake from the spot to bring the sides level again 3-2 to 2-5 entering the last quarter. Mallow had a pointed free in the 46 min only for Ryan Hanley to equalise again with 3 mins remaining. Mallow had another point with 8 mins to go and then with 2 mins left on the clock Mallow goaled again to go 4 points clear but Ballyhea responded again with another great Kieran Morrissey goal. but try as they might Ballyhea could not force an equaliser.
