North Cork Junior "B" Hurling Championship Final

The North Cork Junior "B" Hurling Championship was captured last Tuesday night at Charleville to bring a Junior title to the parish fro the first time since 1976.

The foundation for this victory was laid in the first half, when playing against the wind. Ballyhea led 1-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Four points each from corner-forwards Conor Condon and Johnny O' Flaherty, a Brian O' shaughnessy point and a Johnny O' Flaherty goal two minutes before the break were our scores.

Early second half points from Edmund O' Regan and Johnny O' Flaherty consolidated Ballyhea's lead and two goal in two minutes from Conor Condon and Diarmuid O' Flynn put Ballyhea in an unassailable lead, 3-12 to 0-9 with 20 minutes remaining.

Dromina had goals in the 40th and 50th minutes but Conor Condon crowned a great display with his second goal in the 57th minute and a Junior B title was on its way to Ballyhea for the first time since 1948.

After the game, Tony McAuliffe and our own Tom Crowley, Vice-Chairman of the North Cork Board, presented the cup to Michael O' Mahony, the Ballyhea captain, who in his acceptance speech thanked the players and selectors for their efforts and the Ballyhea followers for their support.
