Cork County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 2 Replay

After another thrilling encounter Ballyhea bowed out of this years Championship by 2 points to Mallow at Buttevant in the 2nd round replay. This game took the same trend as the first tie with Mallow leading 1-6 to 0-4 at the break. Ballyhea came more into the game in the second half with Timmy Shanahan now operating at full forward causing havoc. A goal from Timmy after a quick free by Diarmuid O' Riordan left just a point between the sides 1-7 to 1-6. But a Pa Dineen goal in the 48th min stretched Mallow's lead.

Ballyhea though with points from Darran and Ian Ronan left just a goal between the sides entering injury time, when Mallow's keeper brought off a tremendous save from Timmy Shanahan and Ian Curtin's shot on the rebound flew over the bar and thus our hopes for Championship glory ending for the Intermediate hurlers.

It is hoped the lads will make a good effort for the remainder of the Cork County and Munster Intermediate leagues.
