The senior hurlers good run of late came unstuck at Fermoy last Tuesday night with defeat at the hands of last year county semi-finalists Castlelyons. Exchanges were very close early on and after 16 mins the sides were level 0-4
each (Neil Ronan scoring all Ballyhea's points). Castlelyons Took control and aided by a goal in the 18th minute they led 1-10 to 0-4 at the break. Ballyhea showed a marked improvement in the second half and 3 excellent points from Darran Ronan in the first 5 mins of the second half brought Ballyhea back into the game. Brian O' Shaughnessy and Eoin Fitzgerald exchanged points before Neil Ronan (2) and Eoin Fitzgerald (2) also exchanged scores before Castlelyons struck
for another goal in the 46 th minute, to go 2-13 to 0-10 ahead. Neil Ronan cracked a 21yd free to the net with 9 mins remaining, followed by a point and cousin Ian Ronan also pointed to leave 4 points in it. Castlelyons had points in the 56th and 57th minute before Ian Ronan goaled brilliantly to leave just 3 points between the
sides with 2 mins left on the clock, but Eoin Fitzgerald had the final say with a pointed free to give Castlelyons the points.
