Ballyhea's Senior hurlers picked up their first set of league points at Ballincollig on Saturday evening with this 3 point victory. The home side played with the wind in the 1st half but it was Ballyhea that led 1-4 to 0-6 at half-time thanks to a Johnny O' Sullivan goal in the 28th minute and 4 well taken Neil Ronan points. Brendan Daly was making his senior league debut and worked hard in the middle of the park. The Ballyhea defence performed excellently with captain Aidan O' Connor outstanding with the full-back line of Kieran o' Leary, Stephen Dennehy and Timmy Shanahan all performing well. Ballyhea added some fine points in the second half and led by 5 points with 5 minutes remaining. But a late Ballincollig rally saw them score 2 late points and were narrowly wide with the last puck of the game, giving victory to Ballyhea.
