Cul camps 2016
Our Kelloggs Cul camp was held last week and proved to be a resounding success A record number of 107 kids attended the camp .During the week we had a visit from Cork senior hurler Mark Ellis . Pat Spratt GDA also called in to the camp . On the last day presentations were made to the coaches , helpers and most improved players in each age group by Pa O'Callaghan and Luke Hanley . Thanks to our coaches Roberta , Mary Claire , Rachel , Martin , Anthony , Kevin , Liam and Mikey . Thanks also to all our helpers and to everyone that helped in any way to make the week a great success . Thanks to Jimmy , Dave , Ger , Tom and John for organising the camp. Thanks to all the parents that provided food and refreshments during the week and thanks to every one that attended the camp and enjoyed the weeks activities .
RedFM SHL : Ballyhea 3-13 Midleton 1-22 at Ballyhea.
Midleton the league leaders came out on top in the battle of the magpies this evening at Ballyhea after a lively 60 minutes . We started well with a goal after 6 minutes from Pa O'Callaghan after a long delivery from Liam O'Connor . After 10 minutes we led 1-3 to 0-2 with our points coming from Maurice O'Sullivan (2) and a Pa free. The sides were exchanging points before The East Cork lads drew level 1-7 each after 24 minutes with a goal from Cormac Walsh .The lead was short lived though as Ballyhea found the visitors net for a second time after Pa O'Callaghan set up John Morrissey to finish from close range . Pa added another point to help us to a half time lead of 2-8 to 1-9. Ten minutes into the second half we had doubled our lead to 4 points 2-11 to 1-10 with scores from Jonathon O'Sulivan , Maurice and a Pa free. Midleton though with Conor Lehane and Luke Farrell to the forefront hit 5 points with out reply to nudge ahead again . Christopher Hanley pointed to leave the sides level with 12 minutes remaining as the contest hotted up . Maurice with a fine point put us back in the lead but Midleton hit a purple patch again with 6 unanswered points to lead by 5 entering injury time .Ballyhea were not finished yet though and good work by Jonathon and Maurice set up John Morrissey for a fine goal to reduce the lead to 2. The winners though finished the contest with a Cormac Walsh free to take the league points and keep their place at the top of the league table . U21 HC : Ballyhea 5-18 Buttevant 1-15 at Charleville
Our under 21's bounced back from the first round defeat to overcome Buttevant on Tuesday evening at Charleville . Ballyhea's first point came from Eugene O'Leary who was making a welcome come back after a serious injury . Pa O'Callaghan goaled twice in the opening ten minutes getting on the end of Mikey Browne's long deliveries . At half time we led 3-9 to 0-10 with Pa netting his third just before half time after good work by Luke Crowley . Ballyhea added two further late goals with Pa batting home after being set up by Mikey Mortell and Shaun Murphy scoring the fifth . Buttevant got in for a goal just before the final whistle . Ballyhea now play Ballygiblin in the 1/4 final : scorers : Pa O'Callaghan 4-6 (0-1 fr), Eugene O'Leary 0-5, Shaun Murphy 1-2, Daniel Relihan 0-4, (1fr) Mikey Browne 0-1 (fr). U16 P2HC: Ballyhea 2-4 Courcey Rovers 3-19 at Ballincollig
Our u16 hurlers travelled to Ballincollig on this evening for the first round of the championship but came across a very strong Courcey Rovers outfit . Little separated the sides early on and after 15 minutes we trailed by a point 1-2 to 0-6. At half time we were 5 in arrears 1-9 to 1-4. Gradually the Carrigdhoun side got well on top and ran out comfortable winners . Scorers: Jack Barrett 2-2, Jamie Copps 0-1, Eamonn O'Sullivan 0-1.
